Who/why?

This site could perhaps be improved by letting the posters know who agrees and disagrees with them and why. The anonymous votes could be coming from DOE employees for example and that would be interesting to know. If someone disagrees they should be encouraged to explain why they disagree before their disagreement is counted. Otherwise the site is less useful to create the desired creative dialogue. It seems incongruous ...more »

Suggestion

Purhaps the DOE doesn't take this medium of ideas exchange serious due to the overwhelming amount amount of derogatory exchange. I would suggest all grievences be made to a alternate channel to which they would be better addressed. Improperly channeled grievences only add frustration to the problem.

DOE should live webcast all meetings

DOE should live webcast all meetings for proposed rule making and regulations where the public comment should take place. They should make these meetings available for on demand viewing and have the ability to have that content be indexed for video search. By doing this the public and stakeholders will be able to see the inner workings of the rule making process and make the content and proceedings transparent to the ...more »

Kill DOE

The DOE is a worthless enterprise. Wasting $Billions every year and accomplishing ZERO. The Director of DOE needs to go to the president to tell him that the plug should be pulled on DOE. "We the People" are getting it now and it is time to say goodbye to DOE. The $Billions that are poured down the drain at DOE could be better SAVED on our nation's debt. We need smaller govt, not bigger; we need real leadership, not ...more »

Cold Fusion

May I suggest redirecting the billions that normally goes to big OIL, COAL and NUCLEAR to other more fruitful energy developments, such as cold fusion? If you never invest in developing new technologies that arise in the world of science and physics, you will never regain your reputation. Arguing over wether the event is fusion or not is silly, but if you do not invest in its development we will lose the greatest opportunity ...more »

Restore Public Access to Los Alamos Reports

Public access to the unclassified technical report library at Los Alamos National Laboratory should be restored and expanded. This collection represents a wealth of technical knowledge, historical information, and current science. Until 2002, it was publicly available. In the interest of data availability it should now be restored to public access online, together with new unclassified publications that have been generated ...more »

Energy Bond Issue

1. US has sufficient natural gas to fulfill energy needs for many years. 2. Enormous amount of funds are needed to build pipelines and infrastructure to bring this resource to market 3.We believe that if an attractive 20 yr bond issue, guaranteed by US government at a 5% tax free yield were offered, US citizens would be eager to participate in such an offering for the following two reasons: a. Americans are eager to ...more »

RESTORING OLD AIRCRAFT CARRIERS AND STATION THEM IN THE OCEAN

Using old aircraft carriers to become Dams or mobile energy platforms of coverting sea water into hydro electric power and charging batteries and commercial lines. Placing the old carriers at sea and the water currents turn the turbines to charge energy cells. It would mean an overhaul of the old carriers to be modified for sea water lines going into the ship. A resign of the hull and engineering compartments to receive ...more »

Harness the power from vehicles on the roads

Each vehicle that drives down the road is producing power. It's a matter of collecting or harnessing the power from the vehicle and relaying to a power plant. There are hundreds of thousands of vehicles on the roads, wheels turning, alternaters charging, why not harness this power and use it as renewable energy that can power lights, or other devices?

gas

There is an abundance of natural gas in the US. Alot of the cars on the road could be converted. Jobs would be created here and money would not go overseas. Polution would be reduced some say by 40% over regular gas. I would hope the government would invest in the natural gas stations and do it in a way to ensure competition and not hand it over to the existing gas companies like Mobil. I know alot of people like ...more »
