Orbital Solar Transmissions

This concept uses solar panel satellites in orbit that transmit electricity to earth. I read that it is possible to transmit electricity. In light of this, I consider this to be one our greatest discoveries if used correctly. The sun generates an enormous amount of power that is radiated in 360 degrees cubed. Using the transmitted electricity concept coupled with already existing solar panels would render electric ...more »

Remove subsidies for oil and gas

Businesses would make investment in new sources of energy if oil and gas were not subsidized. Oil and gas companies are financially capable of investing in new sources of energy if that is where the money can be made. They will not be harmed if subsidies are removed; only what they do to make money will change. Sasol's technology is used by the Dakota Gasification company to make Substitute Natural Gas from lignite. ...more »

Encourage local/neighborhood involvement in green energy

My current subdivision has a bylaw that prevents any homeowner from installing any kind of solar or wind harnessing system on their property. While I understand the rationale behind this decision, it stifles any chance our neighborhood would have of becoming greener. For instance, as soon as I moved into my house, I replaced all my light bulbs with CFL bulbs, and while the house was being built, we chose higher quality ...more »

Make use of existing technology used commercially elsewhere

Plasma gasification is already being used commercially to generate electricity. An example is the Eco-Valley plant in Utashinai, Japan. Solena Group Inc, headquartered in Washington DC, is going to build a jet fuel plant for British Airways using their Solena Plasma Gasification ('SPG') technology. This is an example of a technology already available that is not being utilized. Instead of dumping garbage in a landfill, ...more »

"Bureau of Renewable Energy"

As I understand it, the Bureau of Reclamation provided capital appropriated by Congress to build major dams on rivers in the Western U.S. These dams provided irrigation water to farmers and cheap electricity to consumers. The revenue generated from selling water and electricity would recuperate the money invested in the dam, which would then be invested in a new dam. For many political, economic, and environmental reasons ...more »

Put visitor logs online, for anyone visiting a DOE employee

Put visitor logs online, for anyone visiting a DOE employee, contractor, appointee, or agent. We the People have the right to see who has been meeting with our government. Logs should include at least: 1.) name, title company, 2.) date/time, 3.) person(s) being visited, 4.) reason for visit. This would make FOIA requests so much more specific.
